Senate vote 280

Vote on Amendment Tally: 73-25Passed
This amendment affirms the existence of community service requirements for households living in public housing. According to current law, adult residents of public housing are required to perform eight hours of community service each month, but this requirement is not uniformly imposed.[1]
- Community service requirements are burdensome to economically tenuous households and unfairly penalize the poor and minorities.[2]
- The House version of the bill included an amendment to remove this current requirement, which was supported by housing advocates.[3]
